Artist in Residence Programs– bringing artists into the schools to present workshops to students. Past artists have visited middle school and high schools and taught a variety of subjects from songwriting, music classes, History of Hip Hop, Q&A with students, etc… Jahi_51Oak_115 Inspirational Speaker Series– bring renowned musicians, artists, and craftspeople to Oakland schools to inform, inspire and teach. Don Reed Addresses Students 51Oakland stage (producing stages in venues and at festivals)- uniting professional musicians with student musicians to let the future stars of tomorrow have performance opportunities and showcase their talent. oakland future trio and leah 51Oakland’s program activities adhere to the California Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) standards, and are student-centered, strength-based, culturally appropriate, and designed using a positive youth development framework to empower students. Program Activities include: 1) a brief needs assessment to determine each school’s challenges and growth areas as it relates to music and arts education; 2) curriculum development in collaboration with students, school staff, and administration; 3) a music and arts curriculum that consists of an Inspirational Speaker Series, Master Class, and live musical performances; and 4) a comprehensive evaluation of the program
