11th Annual OUSD JazzFest: Music is alive and well in Oakland! The 11th Annual OUSD Jazz Festival was held at Oakland Tech High School Auditorium on Thursday, February 7th. This fun and free concert featured amazing performances by spectacular jazz ensembles from several OUSD schools, including Edna Brewer, Montera, Oakland Tech, Skyline, Westlake, Castlemont, Bret Harte, as well as The Big O! – a band comprised of OUSD Music Teachers. 51Oakland was able to bring world-class guest musicians Roger Glenn, David Matthews, and Karl Perazzo to the event for a special rendition of ‘Cold Duck Time’ with the OUSD Very Big Band – which gave hundreds of young musicians the chance to share the stage and perform alongside some of their heroes.
